What Chair Covers Do I Need for My Halifax Wedding or Event? The Complete Guide
If you've ever walked into a venue and thought "these chairs just don't match my vision," you're not alone. Mismatched, worn, or just plain uninspiring chairs are one of the most common things Halifax couples and event hosts want to fix. Chair covers are the easiest, most budget-friendly way to do it.
The tricky part? Not every chair cover fits every chair. Before you rent (or buy) chair covers for your wedding, shower, corporate event, or party, it helps to know what kind of chairs you're working with.
Why Chair Covers Matter More Than You'd Think

Chairs take up a huge amount of visual real estate at any event. A room full of scuffed banquet chairs or mismatched folding chairs can make even a beautifully decorated space feel unfinished. While clean, uniform chair covers instantly pull a room together and make everything else (your florals, linens, centrepieces) pop.
Chair covers also solve a practical problem: most Halifax-area venues don't own chairs that match every wedding colour palette or theme. Renting covers lets you transform whatever chairs the venue already has, without the cost of specialty chair rentals.
Step 1: Figure Out What Type of Chairs Your Venue Has

This is the most important step, since the cover that fits one chair style won't fit another. The two most common types you'll run into at Halifax-area venues are:
School Chairs (Square-Back Chairs) These are the classic square-backed chairs you'll often see at community centres and halls. If your venue has these, you'll need a Universal Satin Chair Cover, which slips over the square back and seat for a smooth, finished look.
Banquet Chairs Common at hotels, resorts, and golf course venues, banquet chairs have a rounder, padded back and seat. These require a Banquet Spandex or Polyester Chair Cover, designed specifically to hug the curved shape without bunching or slipping.
Not sure which one your venue has? Send us a photo of the chairs, or let us know where you're hosting your event, if it's one we've set up at before (we've worked at venues like Sackawa Canoe Club, Granite Springs Golf Course, and Oak Island Resort, among others), we likely already know exactly which covers you'll need.
Step 2: Choose Your Colour

Colour is where chair covers really do the heavy lifting for your overall look. We currently offer:
Universal Satin Covers (School Chairs): Black, Ivory & White
Banquet Spandex/Polyester Covers: Ivory, White & Black
A clean white or ivory cover is the most popular choice for weddings since it pairs with virtually any colour scheme, you can always layer in colour with sashes, table linens, or florals elsewhere in your design.
Step 3: Decide How Much Help You Want

Once you know your chair type and colour, you've got a few options:
Rent the covers and set them up yourself - a good fit if you have a small guest list and some extra hands on the day.
Add chair covers into our Full Setup Package - our team handles delivery, setup, and the full look from start to finish, so you're not touching a single chair on your wedding day.
Add teardown too - if you'd rather keep dancing at the end of the night than pack up chair covers, our Full Teardown Package takes care of pickup, cleanup, and garbage removal after the event.
Quick FAQ
Do you rent chair covers on their own, or only as part of a package? We offer both, you're welcome to rent chair covers on their own, or bundle them into a full setup or teardown package if you'd rather not handle setup yourself.
What if my venue has a chair type that's not school or banquet style? Reach out with a photo of your chairs. Between our rental inventory and experience setting up at venues across Nova Scotia, we can usually match you with the right cover.
Can I mix chair covers with sashes or other accents? Yes! Chair covers are a great base layer that pairs well with additional decor. Ask us about options when you reach out for a quote.
